Issac Hayes Has Died!

Published by sfreeman at 7:28 pm under General Coverage Edit This

As the world is still mourning the shocking death of Bernie Mac, word was just released that the great Issac Hayes has passed away. He was found by a family member in Memphis and taken to Baptist East Hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was apparently found today after collapsing near a treadmill. The treadmill was reportedly running when he was found on the floor unconscious. At this time the cause of death is not known. Issac Hayes is known for his incredibly deep, baritone voice. He was a soulful singer who won an Academy Award as well as a Grammy for the theme song from “Shaft”. Hayes also laid the groundwork for disco music and paved the way for other crooners such as Barry White. Issac Hayes’ recorded “Hot Buttered Soul” in 1969 and “Theme From Shaft” came later in 1971 that took the world by storm. Hayes was born on August 20th, 1942 in Covington, Tn. He was a self-taught musician who joined the label Stax in 1963. He later began producing songs for the duo Sam and Dave such as “Soul Man” and “Hold on! I’m A Comin”. “Isaac Hayes embodies everything that’s soul music,” Collin Stanback told The Associated Press today”When you think of soul music you think of Isaac Hayes — the expression … the sound and the creativity that goes along with it.” Stanback is an A&R executive at Stax, In 1997, Hayes began his voice work for the hit animated show “South Park” as the very sexual (and outrageously funny) Chef. Chef was the school cook who often helped the kids of south park…in his own dirty yet special way, solve dilemma’s or issues that they had. Something very dear to me that he was also very powerful in was spoken word. He was definitely an inspirational man to watch and listen to. According to The Associated Press, a 911 call was made after Hayes was found by his wife and another family member after returning from the grocery store. Sheriff’s Deputy’s arrived and performed CPR unsuccessfully until paramedics arrived to take him to the hospital. Hayes was always known to take care of his health. In late 2006 he suffered a stroke. Family members say that he was dealing with a number of medical issues that they believe may have led to his death. No official diagnosis was elaborated upon.
